Driving home in the dark. It's late and I'm a bit tired so please
forgive any blunders of prose. The students are in good cheer, continuing to display the excellent
form they have done throughout the trip. It has been a pleasure to
accompany them. They are a credit to St Benedict's. We have been dazzled with technology beyond the neon lights and high
speed rollercoasters. How rides are conceived, designed, modelled,
built, maintained and made sensational through the use of computers.
300 moving lights and purposely recorded audio by Aerosmith, precision
planned and controlled to mirror the drops and loops of Space Mountain
or Rock 'n' Rollercoaster is cool. It wasn't all about the thrills though. We studied how tech has been
used to negotiate the hoards of visitors eating and drinking mass
volumes in hotels and restaurants throughout the parks and connecting
village. Also, we've been hearing that the impact of flu virus
mutation on a central European tourism resort is a set of people
organising a cohesive response using expert ICT systems. We were introduced to the genuine application of ICT systems in
various sectors of Disneyland. This will prove invaluable knowledge
for our students in developing their understanding of the impact
technology is having on the world they are growing up in. Lessons will
be thoroughly enriched by discussions of the detailed impact of ICT we
have witnessed together over the last 48 hours. A great trip it has been. The students have loved it. You would not
believe how passionate they are about meeting Mickey Mouse! It was a
